A standard 40HQ container has about 67 to 76 cubic meters of usable space, but the actual number of sofas depends on carton dimensions and how efficiently the cartons fill the container. A one-piece sofa in a full-size carton may fit only 30 to 50 sets, while compressed or KD sofas can load much more because their cartons are smaller and easier to arrange.

Compressed sofas typically reduce packing volume by 50 to 65 percent compared with a normal sofa, which makes a major difference in freight cost per set. KD structures add another advantage because flat panels create fewer awkward empty spaces. The supplier should provide the exact carton size, gross weight and a loading plan for the container type you plan to use.
